Following the 2013 release of their single “Versace,” Migos gained popularity as a band quite quickly. The song’s remix, which was created by Canadian rapper Drake, peaked at number 99 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and at number 31 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Chris Brown and Young Thug made guest appearances on the group’s first studio album, Yung Rich Nation, which was produced by Zaytoven and Murda Beatz and released in July 2015. The album peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200, where it attained its greatest position.

The year 2016 saw the debut of “Bad and Boujee” with Lil Uzi Vert as Migos’ first track to top the Billboard Hot 100 list. The week of January 21 marked the week in which the song peaked on the list. Since the song’s initial release, the Recording Industry Association of America has given it the distinction of four times platinum (RIAA). Takeoff is not credited for his contribution to the song and is not featured in it, but he is visible in the backdrop of one of the sequences in the music video.

Takeoff has said that the fact that he wasn’t included on the song was because he was very busy while it was being recorded. He was questioned by hosts Joe Budden and DJ Akademiks about his absence on June 24, 2017, during the filming of Complex’s Everyday Struggle at the BET Awards. Does it seem like I’ve been left off of “Bad and Boujee,” he replied. Takeoff’s remark caused Budden to leave the set, and before security intervened, a fight between Migos and Budden and their respective entourages almost broke out. [source: no citation provided]

2015: Georgia Southern University incident

On April 18, 2015, Georgia Southern University’s 2015 Spring Concert was scheduled to take place at Hanner Fieldhouse, with Migos serving as the headlining act. Local opening artists performed before the show started at seven in the evening. In spite of this, the band didn’t start playing until about an hour and a half after their stated performance time of 9:00 p.m. Although their performance agreement specified a minimum set length of 45 minutes,

Before leaving the stage, the band had only performed for a little more than half of that time. As part of the concert’s security detail, the University Police Department, Statesboro Police Department, and Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office all picked up a potent smell emanating from the group’s vans. As a result, the drivers of the vans were questioned by law authorities.

Following additional inquiry, the rap group and 12 members of their group were detained on numerous counts, including marijuana and other controlled substance possession, gun possession near a school, gun possession while committing a crime, and gun possession by criminals. The rap group was also accused of having weapons in a secure area near a school.
